What the Golden Triangle Is
Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur form a rough triangle in northern India, each about four to five hours from the next by road. Together they cover Mughal and Rajput history, the Taj Mahal, and Jaipur's forts and bazaars — the standard first trip to India, doable in five to seven days.
Delhi (2 nights)
Old Delhi for Jama Masjid, the Red Fort, and a rickshaw through Chandni Chowk; New Delhi for Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, and India Gate. One full day of sightseeing is enough before you move on.
Agra (1 night)
Arrive from Delhi by road or the fast train. See Agra Fort in the afternoon and the Taj Mahal at sunrise the next morning, when the light is soft and the crowds are thinnest. Mehtab Bagh across the river gives a classic sunset view of the Taj.
Jaipur (2 nights)
Drive from Agra via Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell. In Jaipur: Amber Fort in the morning, then the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, and the old-city bazaars for block-printed textiles and jewellery.
Getting Around
A private car with a driver for the whole loop is the comfortable choice and lets you stop where you like. Trains connect the cities if you prefer. Local guides at each stop are worth it for the history.
