A low headline number wins the click. It is usually built on the cheapest season, the largest room occupancy, and the bare minimum of inclusions. The real price appears once you add dates, travellers, and the things most people assume are included.
The Questions to Ask Before You Pay
- Is this price per person or total, and on what room occupancy?
- Are flights included, and in which class and baggage allowance?
- Which meals are included — breakfast only, half board, full board?
- Are airport and inter-city transfers included?
- Are visa fees, travel insurance, and city or resort taxes included?
- Which listed activities have a separate ticket price?
- What is the exact cancellation and refund schedule?
Common Add-Ons That Surprise People
Tourist and resort taxes paid at check-out, fuel or peak-season surcharges, single-occupancy supplements, seat selection and extra baggage on budget flights, and "optional" tours that turn out to be the reason you chose the destination.
Get It In Writing
A trustworthy quote lists inclusions and exclusions side by side and states the currency that is binding. If a seller will not put the breakdown in writing, treat the headline price as fiction.
